Call for proposals: Improved and Effective Implementation of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act

Call for proposals

Ref: BEEC - AC5/010/2021

Improved and Effective Implementation of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act

This year marks 18 years of the B-BBEE Act and the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Commission’s (“B-BBEE Commission’s”) annual conference will seek to focus on improving the effectiveness of B-BBEE in South Africa. The B-BBEE Commission therefore calls for any participant in the field of B-BBEE (including advisors, practitioners, consultants, private and public sector entities, and verification agencies) to submit proposals with practical suggestions on how B-BBEE can be more effective.

Proposals may cover any or all of the key five elements of the Codes of Good Practice with clear distinction on the policy, legislative and implementation solutions proposed. Participants submitting proposals must conduct proper research on the current framework and what has worked so far to enable the proposals to be relevant and practical to move the economic transformation agenda of the country to the next level.

Proposals to be submitted must not be longer than 10 pages in WORD Format or 15 slides in PowerPoint, and must be submitted in editable format to enable consolidation of proposals for reporting purposes, and further adhere to all the rules regarding plagiarism.

The B-BBEE Commission will establish a selection committee which will select five (5) best proposals talking to each element of the B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice that will be awarded an opportunity to present the proposals at the B-BBEE Commission 5th Annual Conference which will be held on 24 March 2022.

Proposals may be submitted by no later than 12:00 on Wednesday, 24 November 2021 to the attention of Ms. Thembakazi Dondashe to the following email Conference2022@beecommission.gov.za
